Accepting Applications for 2017 McGovern-Dole Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the 2017 McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program (McGovern-Dole), which helps support education, child development and food security in low-income, food-deficit countries around the globe. The program provides U.S. commodities that are used to support school feeding and maternal and child nutrition projects.
In addition to providing school meals, McGovern-Dole supports teacher training and school infrastructure improvements to boost children’s enrollment and academic performance. At the same time, the program also focuses on improving children’s health and learning capacity before they enter school by offering nutrition programs for pregnant and nursing women, infants and pre-schoolers.
McGovern-Dole projects normally last five years, and are implemented by non-profit charitable organizations, cooperatives, and other international organizations.
The application deadline is COB January 19, 2017.
