Marie Juslene Pelerin (in white), principal of Haiti’s National School of Ganthier, shows the preparation of a school meal to U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Peter Mulrean (to her right) and FAS Administrator Phil Karsting (far right).

During a recent trip to Haiti, FAS Administrator Phil Karsting had the opportunity to see USDA school feeding efforts in action. He joined U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Peter Mulrean and U.S. Senate staff members on a visit to the National School of Ganthier, outside Port-au-Prince, where the World Food Program is providing healthy and nutritious meals to 600 students with the support of the McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program.
