Private Exporters Report Sales Activity for Unknown Destinations and Mexico
WASHINGTON, July 13, 2012 — Private exporters reported to the U.S. Department of Agriculture the following activity:
- Export sales of 150,200 metric tons of soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations. Of the total 7,500 tons is for delivery during the 2011/2012 marketing year and 142,700 tons is for delivery during the 2012/2013 marketing year; and
- Declaration of non-U.S. origin export sales of 120,000 metric tons of corn for delivery to Mexico during the 2012/2013 marketing year. These sales were previously reported as optional origin. An optional origin contract provides that the origin of the commodity may be the U.S. or one or more other exporting countries.
The marketing year for corn and soybeans began Sept. 1.
USDA issues both daily and weekly export sales reports to the public. Exporters are required to report to USDA any export sales activity of 100,000 metric tons or more of one commodity, made in one day to one destination, by 3 p.m. Eastern time on the next business day following the sale. Export sales of less than these quantities must be reported to USDA on a weekly basis.
