The Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate now has the support of 30 nations, as well as the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the United Kingdom’s COP26 Presidency

The U.S. government will host an informal, virtual listening session on Sept. 3 to solicit stakeholder input in advance of the UN Food Systems Summit, which takes place Sept. 23.

Deputy Secretary Dr. Jewel Bronaugh led the U.S. delegation to the UN Food Systems Pre-Summit in Rome July 26-28, working to build coalitions and consensus around prioriites including food security and nutrition, climate change, and equity and inclusion.

In the leadup to the United Nations Food Systems Summit, U.S. government officials took part in the Pre-Summit Ministerial meeting in Rome July 26-28, building coalitions and seeking solutions to end hunger and poverty and build more sustainable, equitable and resilient food systems.

As head of the United States delegation to the UN Food Systems Pre-Summit Ministerial in Rome, Deputy Agriculture Secretary Dr. Jewel Bronaugh delivered the U.S. National Statement.

Led by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the United States is joining a global coalition focused on improving the nutrition, health, and education of vulnerable children and adolescents worldwide.

In his remarks to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Secretary Vilsack emphasized the U.S. commitment to climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices, science-based rulemaking, and collaboration on addressing global food insecurity.

The Agriculture Innovation Mission (AIM) for Climate will increase and accelerate global innovation research and development on agriculture and food systems in support of climate action.

Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan will lead the U.S. delegation to the ministerial conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome June 25 to July 2.
