USDA Trade Mission Builds New Opportunities for U.S. Agribusinesses in Chile
WASHINGTON, Sept. 13, 2023 – Fourteen U.S. companies will join the U.S. Department of Agriculture agribusiness trade mission to Santiago, Chile, led by the Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis M. Taylor, Sept. 25-29.
“Chilean consumers recognize and appreciate the safe and high-quality products that the United States produces. I am excited to lead such a diverse group as we showcase a wide range of U.S. food and agricultural products,” said Taylor. “With its economic stability and high purchasing power, Chile presents U.S. exporters with a perfect opportunity to increase their sales and expand their businesses.”
Chile is among the top three markets in South America for U.S. agricultural and related products, and the second-largest market in South America for consumer-oriented agricultural products. In 2022, U.S. exports of agricultural and related products to Chile reached a record $1.1 billion.
While in Chile, trade mission participants will engage directly with potential buyers, receive in-depth market briefings from USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service and industry trade experts, and participate in site visits.
In addition to representatives from the following businesses and organizations, Taylor will be joined by Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg, North Dakota Commissioner of Agriculture Doug Goehring, and officials from the Missouri and Nebraska Departments of Agriculture.
