Faculty Exchange Program

The Faculty Exchange Program enhances the teaching ability of agricultural educators from institutions of higher learning in developing countries. Participants come to the United States for one academic semester (approximately 4 months) to acquire new knowledge and enhance their ability to teach and build curricula at the university level. Since 1995, the program has provided training opportunities for hundreds of agricultural educators across the developing world. Program alumni play an integral role in training the next generation of educators, scientists, and policymakers to better understand the global agricultural marketplace and support science-based decision making and trade policies.

Fellows are recruited and selected by USDA/FAS to participate and are hosted by selected U.S. universities for the duration of the U.S.-based portion of the program. Mentors at the U.S. host universities are paired with the Fellows and will be expected to visit their assigned Fellows at their institutions abroad. U.S. universities interested in hosting the Faculty Exchange Program Fellows must apply to the Notice of Funding Opportunity.
