FOODEX Japan
Japan is top the Asian market and fourth-largest global market for U.S. exports of consumer-oriented food products. FOODEX Japan is the largest annual food and beverage trade show in Asia attracting over 80,000 visitors, offering exhibitors access not only to Japan’s $770 billion food market but to many other lucrative Asian markets as well. FOODEX Japan 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, the U.S. Pavilion at this USDA-endorsed show welcomed 59 exhibitors reporting $24.5 million in 12-month projected sales (2018: $18.5 million) of U.S. agricultural products. U.S. exhibitors made over 487 serious business contacts and introduced 366 new products in the market. Popular U.S. products at the show included olive oil, pre-cooked bacon, dry age beef patties, beef finger steak, pork cutlet, kabayaki eel, almond, parmesan cheese, corn tortillas, natto soy, lollipops, chili, whiskey, gin, cherry juice, snacks, cheese snack, BBQ sauce, honey, ginger beer, bourbon liqueur, dried blueberries, duck breast, cheese bread, soybeans, cheese cake, wine, nuts, papayas, hot sauce, chocolate coated nuts, dried fruits, sparkling water, lentils, dried cranberry, potato chips, chocolate, shelled pecans, and nuts dip. The 59 U.S. exhibitors included 21 small-to-medium size and 15 new-to-market companies.
Demo Counter Package: Exporters may also participate in the USA Pavilion via the Demo Counter Package, This package, offered at JPY 487,035 or approximately US $4,700 includes the following suite of services and amenities:
- Demo counter with barstool located on a main aisle to be supervised by a pool of booth attendants and ATO Tokyo staff for sampling products, speaking with buyers, and collecting leads on your behalf
- Dedicated iPad, with downloaded Zoom app, for display of promotional materials and videos
- Access to USA Pavilion Lounge meeting rooms for private Zoom engagements between on-site buyers and your U.S.-based staff
- Recap of all collected leads delivered to you at the conclusion of the event
- Enrollment in the event’s ‘Virtual FOODEX’ online platform for matchmaking opportunities and promotion to buyers not physically in attendance, live from March to October 2021
