FOODEX Japan
Japan is the top Asian market and fourth-largest global market for U.S. exports of consumer-oriented food products. FOODEX Japan is the largest annual food and beverage trade show in Asia offering exhibitors access not only to Japan’s $788 billion food market but to many other lucrative Asian markets as well. In 2021, despite COVID-19 travel restrictions and restrictions on large in-person gatherings, FOODEX Japan attracted 25,754 visitors and welcomed 6 U.S. exhibitors. In 2020, FOODEX Japan was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, the USA Pavilion at this USDA-endorsed show welcomed 59 exhibitors. Popular U.S. products at the show included olive oil, pre-cooked bacon, dry age beef patties, beef finger steak, pork cutlet, kabayaki eel, almond, parmesan cheese, corn tortillas, natto soy, lollipops, chili, whiskey, gin, cherry juice, snacks, cheese snack, BBQ sauce, honey, ginger beer, bourbon liqueur, dried blueberries, duck breast, cheese bread, soybeans, cheese cake, wine, nuts, papayas, hot sauce, chocolate coated nuts, dried fruits, sparkling water, lentils, dried cranberry, potato chips, chocolate, shelled pecans, and nuts dip. The 59 U.S. exhibitors included 21 small-to-medium size and 15 new-to-market companies.
