China’s MY 2017/18 peach and nectarine production is forecast at 14.3 million metric tons, up nearly two percent year-on-year from 2016/2017. Cherry production is forecast to reach a record 360,000 MT, largely because of new bearings. Cherry imports are expected to continue increasing by 10 percent to 120,000 MT in MY 2017/18 on strong demand. Chile remains the largest cherry supplier to China, followed by the United States.
