India: Cotton and Products Update - December 2021

FAS Mumbai (Post) forecasts marketing year (MY) 2021/2022 cotton production at 27.7 million 480 lb. bales on an area of 12.4 million hectares. Untimely rains during the Northeast Monsoon (October-December) along with pink bollworm infestation led to lower production in North India.

Pakistan: Grain and Feed Update

Given the pace of imports during the first six months of 2021/22, the wheat import forecast is reduced from 2.5 to 2 million tons. With harvest complete and better than expected yields, the 2021/22 rice production estimate is increased from 8.2 to a record 8.9 million tons.

India: FAIRS Export Certificate Report Annual

In 2021, the Indian government outlined general requirements for the import of dog and cat food products, including the requirement that a veterinary health certificate accompany each consignment.
On November 9, 2021, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a directive clarifying that all imported consignments of alcoholic beverages bottled in origin and in bulk, containing more than ten percent alcohol with no expiry date will be issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) with a validity of 300 days.
